GOVERNORS OF SOUTH EAST DECRY SECURITY SITUATION IN THE ZONE.

South East Governors have raised the alert that the security crisis in the zone has gone beyond the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
In a statement issued by the Chairman, South East Governors’ Forum, Dave Umahi, on Thursday, said some criminal components including cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers are killing residents of southeast in the name of IPOB.
Recall that the pro-Biafra group had been blamed for a several attacks on security agents in the zone while authorizing it’s sit-at-home pronounced in June in solidarity with its leader, Nnamdi Kanu who is presently in the detention of the Department of State Services, DSS.
As indicated in a statement, Umahi who is also the Ebonyi State Governor, additionally begged security officers sent to Anambra State for the Saturday governorship election to ensure the residents lives and properties are protected.
The statement reads in part, “We are aware that the insecurity in South East has gone beyond IPOB. Cultists, armed robbers and kidnappers have recruited themselves and are using the name of IPOB to kill innocent citizens. We will not allow this to continue.
“We plead with all security agencies deployed for Anambra election to please secure the lives of our people in Anambra State while playing within the rules of their engagements”. END
