The Umuahia North Local Government Area Organizing Secretary of All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Nkemakolam Chukwudi has said that every member of a political party is a stakeholder.
He stated this while addressing the 12 Ward Organizing Secretaries from Umuahia North Local Government Area, at APC state Secretariat, Uyo street by Uzuakoli road in Umuahia, Abia state capital.
Nkemakolam told the group that as long as they pull their resources together with intention to work for the party to occupy the decisive positions of authority of the state through electoral process, they are stakeholders of the party.
He was addressing them as their leader at the LGA level, schooling them on how to harness the activities of the Organizing Secretaries at the Wards, informing them of their various roles and how they can achieve success for the party.
He explained that stakeholders are not only those who support the party financially, but members, who have the same view and opinions in a political system, to bring together resources, in terms of efforts, campaigns, work and other visible activities that can give the party victory at the polls.
He said that as long as a person pull together resources for the party to succeed, the person is a stakeholder and therefore should work for the success of the party.
“It is now imperative to make the clarification to you people now, because some party members think that they are there to increase the number, eat and drink and sometimes take home little pittance that is given as transport fair after every political meeting.
He said that the role of stakeholders is beyond that, as they will also be expected to pull resources, like field work, campaigns , wooing of members of other parties and so on to come in and join the party with intention to build it.
“Those piloting the affairs of the party can be called Chieftains, party leaders etc, but every registered member of a political party is a stakeholder, who must prove through action and support, whether in cash or kind that he is actually holding the stake of the party.
“When we talk of resources, we are not talking of money alone, but efforts and laudable supports that cannot be quantified in terms of money. If people put their money and there is no one to put in effort to drive that money to make its desired impact, it amounts to nothing, so both the person who is bringing money, the person who is doing house to house campaign to bring people into the party are all doing good jobs.
“ These are the type of things we expect you people to do as Organizing secretaries, and not to sit in your wards , not making any impact, waiting for event to happen for you to appear as an organizer.
“When put your money down, you should also look for a way to see how that money can work for the party because no business man puts money down and fold his hands and expect that money to rise and work, there must be a push to make the money work”, Nkemakolam stated.
“Your movement from place to place to win members, your spoken words, your campaigns, individually and collectively, all amounts to holding the stake of the party, so if victory is achieved , nobody can ask you to go because you did not give money.
“So whatever our contributions are, they amounts to stake holding, and all of us are stakeholders provided you are doing something that will make the party to achieve victory at the end of the day, because the highest objective of the party is to have victory at the polls that will place the party at the helm of affairs, he urged.
“All I want to tell us is that this meeting cannot end here, we should go back with the notion that there are lots of works to be done, you don’t need to see the party leadership or our leader, High Chief Ikechi Emenike before doing the needful. Every result of your efforts will surely reflect at the results of the election and it cannot be unnoticed, he assured.
At the end of the meeting, the Organizing Secretaries used the opportunity to pledge their unalloyed support to High Chief Ikechi Emenike, stating that they shall remain solidly behind him, and will leave no stone unturned to see that his intention of liberating Abia from misrule in 2023 is achieved.
Some of the Organizing secretaries who attended the meeting include Ihejirika Solomon from Isingwu ward, Adolphus Emeka Orji from ward 2, Mathew Frank Osita from ward 1, Ahamefule Ndukwe from Afugiri ward , William Nwanneakolam Osuagwu, Umuhu ward, the Umuahia North LGA Chairman, Ekwuribe Iheanyi, and the Concener of the meeting, Chief Nkemakolam Chukwudi, the LGA Oraganizing Secretary for Umuahia North.
Ekwuribe, who made an impute after the address said that an organizing secretary of any organization has a greater role to play, which is beyond merely arranging for party meetings. END
