If those who die, after their sojourn on earth are given the opportunity to look back during their funeral, to assess the appreciation of people about their services to mankind, indeed those who attended the funeral of Late Sir Micah Ezejinkeya Onyebuchi will not be in doubt to say that he is already dwelling in the positive side of eternity.His funeral service, held at the Amuzukwu Girls Secondary School, Umuahia, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, reminded them of a man who ran a good race and left positive legacies and indelible marks on the sands of time.The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr. Samuel Uche, during his sermon earlier, reminded the living that death is inevitable, as he anchored his sermon on the activities of men on earth, advising that all should prepare for heaven since after death, comes judgment. He explained that those who have done well while here on earth will enjoy eternal life, and implored all to live righteously, as the testimonies of people about the deceased speaks volumes on the side of eternity will be heading to .His family, in their biography, described their late father as a legend, an enigma, who made tremendous impact in the Nigerian education sector, his immediate environment and the Christian community as a whole.He was described as a man that had left behind legacy of integrity, diligence, discipline and philanthropy, for which he would always be remembered.The state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, while speaking at the funeral service described him as an icon, a father, mentor and leader, who contributed immensely to the development of Abia State in particular and Nigeria in general, stating that he ran a good race and left solid legacies behind.Ikpeazu said that for a man who had done so much for his state and country, Pa Onyebuchi deserves rest, and prayed God to grant him rest as well as grant his family, the Amuzukwu Community and Abia State the fortitude to bear the loss.In recognition of his contributions to the development of the education in the state, the Governor renamed the new ASUBEB Headquarters Building at Ogurube layout Umuahia after him, as Pa Micah Onyebuchi ASUBEB Building, and charged his family to hold on to the virtues of their late father.Late Sir Micah Ezejinkeya Onyebuchi died at the age of 90 years, and is survived by his wife Lady Felicia Ihekerenma Onyebuchi, five Children including the Chief Medical Director, CMD, Federal Medical Center Umuahia, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi and others.Many Important dignitaries attended the funeral including the Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the immediate past Governor of the State and Senator representing Abia Central, Senator T.A.Orji, the PDP Governorship Candidate in the State, Professor Uche Ikonne and host of other stakeholders in the Abia polity.Politicians, journalists, medical personnel, men and women of means from in and outside the country, as well as the entire Amuzukwu Community were at the funereal to bid Pa Onyebuchi farewell in his journey to the great beyond.
