A two-day Programme, aimed at subjecting Officers and Men of the Nigerian security and civil Defense corp, Abia state Command, to mandatory Forensic Psychological Assessment and Evaluation has started in Umuahia , Abia state capital.

Declaring the exercise open at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia on Wednesday, 24th November, 2021, the State Commandant- Mr. Ayinla Taiye Olowo said the exercise was in strict compliance to the directive of the Commandant General- Ahmed Abubakar Audi
He explained that all Officers and Men of the Corps should undergo a mandatory Mental, Psychological, Emotional and Physical check to ascertain their behavioral tendencies and competencies for their overall professional conduct, efficiency and productivity.
Addressing newsmen on the importance of the exercise, Commandant Ayinla went back memory lane, narrated the incident that prompted the decision of the Corps to adopt the Forensic Behavioral Test in her determined efforts to end the devastating effects of “Accidental Discharge” among the arm bearing Personnel of the Corps.
He stated that “due to the importance of the exercise to the arm bearing Personnel of the Corps, the Commandant General has not only made it regular, but a prerequisite for recruitment into the organization.
He said that the essence of the exercise is for the overall well-being of the Officers and Men of the Corps on one hand and the safety of the good Citizens/residents of Nigeria, and enhanced productivity on the other.
He explained further that a comprehensive follow- up action to handle any identified area of psycho- social needs among Officers and Men for appropriate and timely intervention to forestall mishandling of fire arms and related operational equipment that could pose threats to lives and property of citizens.
With successful completion of the all-important exercise, it is hoped that the performance index of Personnel of NSCDC, Abia State Command, Umuahia will surge, while all forms of unprofessional conduct are expected to witness a drastic reduction. END
