ABIA PHILANTHROPIST SET TO EMPOWER 650 WOMEN AND YOUTHS; BUDGETS N600 MILLION AGRICULTURAL FUNDS THROUGH HIS FOUNDATION.
The United Nations peace Ambassador and Chief Executive Officer of 2Flame Entertainment Limited, Mayor lucky Igbokwe is set to empower over 650 rural women and Youths who have graduated from his school of Agricultural Value chain production.
Briefing newsmen in his country home, Umuawa Alaocha in Ohuhu, Umuahia North LGA of Abia state, popularly known as Don Lulu said that he has budgeted the sum of N600 million (six hundred million naira) for the empowerment through his Don Lulu Foundation.
He decried the level of unemployment in the state, stressing that it was for this reason that he has to partner with Abia state government to find a lasting solution, adding that Government can not do it alone.
According to him, as an Ohuhu man that he is, and a lover of late Dr Michael Iheonukara Okpara, his uncle, and the former premier of Eastern Region, who envisaged, when he setup the Ulonna North and South farm settlements, currently lying fallow, with vast lands uncultivated, he is going to use his school of Agriculture, located at Ekeoba in Ohuhu land in Umuahia North local government to train youths and rural women in Agriculture free of charge.
“I will equally provide them with startup fund to put to practice what they learned in the school” he promised.
“If our youths are properly engaged through Agriculture, they will have no time to involve themselves in criminal activities, and it will at the same time fight the problem of food shortage in the land, he explained.
He commended Abia state Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu for his giant strides in the area of security as the state is adjudged one of the most peaceful in Nigeria.
He urged Ikpeazu not to relent in his efforts as meaningful development can only take place in a peaceful enviroment.
He also commended the people of Ekeoba ancient kingdom for providing land where the youths will be trained on how to fend for themselves.
He advised emergency philanthropists who only come home during Electioneer period to turn a new leaf, as they don’t have to own the world to extend a helping to the less privileged people in Ohuhu land.
On whether he he will join active politics to enable him continue from where Okpara stopped, he said that he is still seeking the face of God for direction.
He however advised Abians, especially the youths to get their INEC PVC to enable them enthrone the leaders of their choice and dreams.
Sunnews Times can recall that Chief Mayor lucky Igbokwe,(aka Don Lulu) was in 2013 appointed the United Nations Mayor of peace, making him the youngest MOP in the South Eastern Nigeria,in recognition of his efforts towards lasting regional and global peace initiatives.
His foundation, apart from Agricultural Empowerment, also help in Education, through its back to school campaign, housing for the less privileged, health care delivering and other poverty alleviation Programmes he has lined up to help mankind. END
