Over 69 Royal Fathers and their Ugoezes (wives ), 120 Village Heads and 120 president Generals of various town Unions from Ikwuano/Umuahia Communities, have said that out of about 17 governorship candidates featured by other political parties as their flag bearers, only the Candidate of All progressive Congress APC, High Chief Ikchi Emenike is the one they did not find wanting or connected to the decay that has become the lot of Abia since inception.
They stated that it is for this reasons and more that they have decided to support and work with him in the task of building a new Abia of their dreams. They said that all other candidates are directly or indirectly involved in the rape of the state called Abia, which is today resting on life support and ready to crumble if nothing is done quickly to rescue her from the clutches of misrule.
They explained that they came to this conclusion after scrutinizing and assessing the performances of candidates of other parties, both in the past and present as well as assessing their various roles in the decay that has become the lot of the state. They expressed disappointment and regret for the long years the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been in control of the state of Abia, and assured Emenike of their readiness to fully mobilize the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia to play their role in making a new Abia possible with their ballots.
The event took place at the expanded meeting of the Council of Ndi Eze at Abam, Ubakala, in Umuahia South Local Government area of Abia state. It was described as the largest gathering of stakeholders, who have so far endorsed the Rescue and Development Abia(RADA) agenda of the Abia APC governorship flag bearer .
It was also described as a step further to stamp the Ajata na Igu Autonomous Community declaration of December 31, 2022, in which the royal fathers adopted and endorsed Emenike, and told him to go for them in his mission to rescue the state.Stakeholders at the meeting solidified the stance of the royal fathers, affirming their unflinching support for the 2023 governorship project of Emenike whom they described as their worthy illustrious son.
Those who spoke boldly declared that Emenike is the only candidate they believe that has the capacity, courage, commitment and the needed political will to shake Abia out of its present inertia to accelerated development.
Addressing them , Emenike reiterated his burning desire to lift Abia out of the pit it was plunged into by successive inept leaders foisted on the state by the ruling peoples democratic party, PDP.He said that Abia cannot do without building blocks of development in order to create a sustainable environment of job opportunities, flourishing of commercial and industrial activities and expanded and steady flow of revenue to the coffers of government.
He urged all eligible voters in Abia to ensure that they collect their permanent voters’ cards (PVCs) and use them to vote out the old order of retrogression and usher in a new Abia that would take its rightful place as well-governed and developed state in Nigeria. He said that the electorate should drop the old-held belief that “our votes don’t count” and come out en masse to perform their civic duty of electing the right crop of leaders in 2023 for their own interest and for the interest of their children and coming generations.
Voters, he said should be concerned with casting their ballots without entertaining any fear about the possibility of anti-democratic forces stealing their votes as had always happened in the past polls.
Emenike further assured Abia voters that strategies have been put in place to ensure that in the 2023 general election, votes must count and nobody would be allowed to steal another person’s mandate.“Do your own by casting your votes for me and I will do my own by defending the votes. God will do the rest,” he said, and assured that the 2023 general election in Abia is a battle that must be fought and won for the state to experience good governance. END
