The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC, Abdulahi Gana Mohammadu, has said that traditional Institutions in Nigeria should get involved in promotion peace within their communities, as it will rub off on the entire nation and support economic stability.
He explained that no nation thrives under lawlessness and willful destruction of public and private infrastructures.
He was speaking at the palace of Abia state Chairman of traditional rulers Council, of Eze Ndubuisi J. Nwabeke of Eziama Ntigha in Abia Central Senatorial Zone.
He said that the recent wanton destruction of public and private properties witnessed across the Nation in the wake of the hijacked ENDSARS protest by hoodlums has left leaders at all levels searching for solutions to the demands of the genuine protesters.
He further said that when solutions are found, it will build public confidence on the ability of government to secure lives and properties of the citizens and possibly reclaim the public peace .
The Commandant General , who spoke through the State Commandant of the Corps , Mr Vincent Ogu said that what informed his starting his Campaign from the traditional institutions is because every youth comes from a family, and every family belongs to a community and every Community is under the leadership of a traditional ruler .
He advised that now that the demands of the genuine ENDSARS protesters have been noted, the youths should give Government a chance to implement the demand listed, adding that collective promotion of peace within communities will rub off on the entire nation and support economic stability.
Commandant Abdulahi Gana assured Abians of the Command’s readiness to continue to collaborate with other sister Security Agencies in the State to reclaim the public space , bring suspected hoodlums, who have t wreaked havoc on the state to book and restore public confidence.
He also called on Government at all levels and Philanthropists to assist the command through providing Operational Hilux Vans, Modern Security Gadgets and other ways possible to enable her serve the general public better , while soliciting for timely and adequate information from the public to enable them carry out their duties .
Responding, Eze Nwabeke expressed appreciation to the Commandant General, describing him well experienced, and applauded him for deploying Commandant Vincent Ogu whom he said has exhibited much willingness to work in the state, while thanking him for recognizing the roles of Traditional Institutions towards building a virile and peaceful Nation .
He pledged to mobilize the traditional rulers in the state to give him the necessary support to succeed in this important task.
Earlier, the Command spokesperson, DSC Ndukwe Agu Egwu said that the visit was one of the plans the command has marshaled out as the post ENDSARS peace building process.
He said that in the days ahead, the command will meet other stakeholders in the state in her resolve to bring lasting peace END
