The Chief Medical Director, CMD, Federal Medical Center , Umuahia, Abia state, Professor Azubuike Onyebuchi has urged beneficiaries of the Covid 19 training programme,held at the isolation Center of the hospital to be good ambassadors, by spreading the message and correct information they acquired about the pandemic to their constituents.
He explained that it is the only way of reducing the mobility and mortality associated with Covid 19 pandemic.
He advised that participants interest to get correct information from experts who have been carefully chosen to dish out knowledge as a result of their works in diagnoses, testing, nursing care will go a long way in reducing the risks involved in contacting the virus.
He stated this while declaring open a 5-day-training on Covid 19, designed for members of Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency.
He emphasized that dishing out correct information will reduce the mobility and mortality associated with Covid 19 in their constituency as well as assist in preventing the spread of the pandemic.
The training was sponsored by FMC Management in collaboration with the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South in House of Representatives, Hon. Sam Onuigbo.
It was designed to create awareness in preparation for the prevention of the Covid 19 and other related ailments.
The CMD thanked Hon. Onuigbo, whom he said would have been present at the event, if not for the fact that he was out of the country for official duties.

“When you get back home, you can let the people know that Covid 19 is here, and that it is a disease that is treatable, manageable and preventable.
He also advised them to let their constituents know that there is a Covid 19 vaccine that is given freely to everyone which is safe,and very effective in preventing Covid 19 ailments”.
Speaking also, one of the anchor men during the event and former Chairman of Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, (MDCAN) Dr. Godswill Ogbonnaya Uko said that the essence of the programme is to create awareness on the menace of Covid 19, with the aim of ensuring that it is kicked out from Abia state.
“I have taken the Vaccine and am still standing here. This is a message we want everyone to take home and let the world know that it is possible to prevent Covid 19 from our society”, Ogbonnaya said.“Covid 19 has come to stay and we are just working hard to create this awareness so that everyone from these areas that are represented can become ambassadors of prevention such that you take this message to the places you come from and then to let everyone know that we have Covid 19 here, but that Covid 19 is preventable and that it is possible for us to kick out Covid 19 from our environment.”
“That is the reason why we are here, I want to encourage everyone to pay more attention to the lectures because we have seasoned professional who are well prepared to tell you the current and correct information about Covid 19, because there is a lot of dis-information and miss-information out there”, he said.
Speaking on Covid 19, the first resource person, Mrs Ijeoma Ohaka, who described Corona Virus as a disease or infection caused by a newly discovered virus, said that most people infected with this will experience mild respiratory illness.
“Those at risk for this ailment are elderly people and those with underlined illness, like diabetes , cancer, HIV. They are those that are at most risk, but a young person can get it and after taking medication they will get well”, she said END
