The newly sworn-in Education Secretary of Umuahia South Local Government Education Authority, Mr Ekeleme John Obisike has promised to raise the standard of Education in the Council greater heights, and make mediocrity in the sector a thing of the past. He made the promise after being sworn-in at Umuahia South Councils Headquarters, situated in Apumiri-Ubakala in the Council Area.Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at the Legislative Chamber, the Chairman of Umuahia South LGA, Dr Humphrey Benson charged Ekeleme to bring his wealth of experience to bear in moving the education sector of the Council forward.He described him as a vibrant young man who has made his marks in education sector in and out of the area.He thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and stakeholders in the area, led by Pastor Emeka Iyama for the appointment and enjoined the new education secretary to work in synergy with the relevant personalities and offices, in realizing the objectives for which he was apponited.In their individual remarks, the member representing Umuahia South state Constituency, Chief Jerry Uzosike, PDP Chairman in Umuahia South LGA, Mr Chinedu Okezie, and the Cordinator of Uche Ndi Abia Campaign organization in Umuahia South LGA chapter, Mr Kelechi Aguiyi, all described the appointment of Obisike as an appreciation of hard work and commitment to duties.They all wished Obisike, who they described as a renowned educationist well in his new assignment, expressing confidence that he will surely deliver in his assignment.Speaking while handing over some documents to him, the out going education Secretary of the Council, Mrs Ihechiluru Nwosu thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to her to serve.She also expressed confident that Obisike will take the education sector of the Council to greater heights.In his response, the brand new Education secretary of Umuahia South LGA Mr Ekelme John Obisike thanked the Governor for finding him worthy to serve.He promised to raise the bar of education in the Council, and expressed his resolve not to disappoint the state Chief Executive, the people of Umuahia South, NUT and other stakeholders in the Council.The oaths of office and allegiance were administered on Obisike by the head of personnel management/ cum Clerk of Umuahia South Legislative Council, Sir Augustine Elijah.The ceremony attracted the presence of notable personalities, friends and well wishers of the new educations secretary from in and outside Umuahia South LGA.
