The Abia state Peoples Democratic party, PDP Vice Chairman/Acting State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Elder Abraham Amah has said that the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu did not snub the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar when he visited South East recently.
He was speaking against the background of a report published by a national newspaper, alleging that the Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu snubbed the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during his visit to the South East by not attending the presidential flag bearer’s parley in Enugu.
In a press Statement he issued Elder Amah, explained that the Abia PDP governorship candidate Prof. Uchenna Ikonne, his running mate, Barr. Okey Igwe, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates were all in attendance to show their unalloyed support and commitment to the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atuku Abubarkar.
He therefore queried how else a Governor can show his support to the presidential candidate of his party if not through putting machinery in place and ensuring that the right things are done.
“If Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had any intention to snub the presidential candidate of the Party, there is no way he would allow the entire Abia PDP structure to attend the parley”, he argued.
He stated that the Governor being a man that speaks his mind has on several occasions publicly lent his unalloyed support to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambition, but insists that the right things must be done.
He explained that one of those right things he wanted done is the resignation of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as the National Chairman of PDP for justice, equity, fair play and peace to prevail in the Party.
Amah said that the information dished out by the national newspaper is misleading and a figment of the publishers imagination.
“These should not have gone to the print as it clearly speaks of the wishes and unimaginative desires of the Party’s opponents who want to see their party torn apart in crisis.
“For the sake of clarity, the information for the meeting came at a very short notice and the presidential candidate himself acknowledged this during his speech at the occasion and praised the organizers who mobilized the entire leadership and stakeholders of the South East PDP at such a short notice.
“It is imperative to tell the reading public that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu was already on official assignment outside the country when the notice for the meeting was released, yet he mobilized the entire structure of Abia PDP through the State Chairman Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere and ensured full representation even as the governor himself led the delegation and was duly represented by the Abia State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu. He urged the reading public to see such information as the hand work of mischief makers, which should not be taken seriously. END
