A Chieftain of All Progressive Congress, APC, Hon. Uruakpa Sterling Chinwe has said that the emergence of Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu as the Abia state Chairman of APC is one of the best things that has happened to the party in particular and Abians in general.
He stated this while reacting on the verbal attacks being unleashed on the party leadership by the people he described as “enemies of Abia who are vexed by the fact the state is about to be liberated from stronghold of misrule, deceit and fraudulent practices by the true lovers of the state and her people”.
Uruakpa, who is also a Federal Council member of Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, explained that the successful inauguration of Ononogbu in the face of acrimony, hatred, conspiracy and betrayal by the agents of misrule has shown that God is involved in every effort being put in place to rescue Abia from bad governance.
He described Ononogbu as a round peg in a round hole, whose antecedents all his life has exhibited transparency, success, love for his people and selflessness.
According to him, the joy that heralded his emergence and subsequent inauguration, from men of goodwill, who have been praying over the years on how Abia can be liberated Abia from the powers of darkness, both in and outside APC family is unprecedented.
Narrating how the battle was fought and won, Uruakpa said that despite the forced delay on the inauguration day, which led to the shifting of the time from 10.00 am, to 5 pm, the national leadership finally inaugurated 34 state party Chairmen at the Headquarters in Abuja, and Dr Kingsley Ononogbu was one of them.
He decried the legal battles that preceded the exercise, how the enemies of the state plotted to stop his inauguration through court orders, adding, “there was apprehension as to whether the event will hold, since the reconciliation committee mandated to settle rifts among party members had not rounded up its assignment.
He thanked God that despite all the verbal missiles thrown at the leadership of the party in the state, uncomplimentary comments made by some PDP members in APC uniform, the situation in Abia did not degenerated into a direct confrontation between members of APC and some political thugs, hired to burn the party flag at the party office at Uyo state.
“We followers of High Chief Ikechi Emenike have learnt what humility and straight forwardness can achieve, even in the face of provocation. Our leader is a man of peace, one who abhors evil at all times, that is the reason why you see us silent in the face of provocation.
If we hand followed suit the way our opponents were conducting themselves, we would have had too much problem in this state, but each time they rose, he would advise us to ignore them and go about our individual assignments.
“But with the inauguration of our brand new Chairman in Abia and other states, the path to our National Convention on February 26 has been further brightened.
I now appeal to all party members to consider every body’s interest in line with our party’s reconciliation move, while we extend a hand of fellowship to all aggrieved party members to shield their swords and work for the victory of our party, Uruakpa advised. END
