The National Security Adviser (NSA), to president Muhammadu Buhari, Babagana Monguno, has warned that those who planned to cause trouble during the November 6, 2021 Anambra governorship election will be ruthlessly and decisively dealt with by all security agencies in the country.
He disclosed this at a meeting of the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES).
He said that the security agencies had been ordered to deal ruthlessly with troublemakers during the election in Anambra state and advised those who have such plans to desist from it.
This is coming as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that the election would hold as scheduled as no amount of threat would from any quarter would stop the election.
The Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, had said that the commission was determined to proceed with the poll as scheduled.
He stated that the deployment of non-sensitive materials and training of personnel for the election have been concluded, showing that INEC is determined to carry on with the exercise.
In a similar development, Anambra State government has announced that Saturdays will now replace Mondays as school days due to the sit-at-home protest, which is still being observed in the South-East.
This was made known in a recent memo by the government titled, “Anambra State Government approves Saturdays as School Days’, adding that Saturday classes would commence on October 30, 2021.
The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Don Adinuba confirmed the statement and said that all school heads had been directed to notify teachers, pupils and parents about the new development. END
